Rocket chicken fritters

Today,I have gone out of the box and cooked something new which I am not sure you would have heard earlier.We all have heard or had rocket leaves sometime in our dishes,mostly salads,sandwiches,stews,pizzas and pastas.As we know,Rocket leaves has many health benefits.It  decreases the risk of obesity,diabetes,heart disease and overall mortality while promoting a healthy complexion, increased energy, and overall lower weight.So,I thought why not make use of rocket leaves in an Indian desi style.And,there came an idea of making chicken pakoda/fritter with Rocket leaves.The result came out to be piquant and palatable.

Let me share my recipe now.

Preparation Time:10 minutes

Cooking Time:25 minutes



200 gms chicken cubes
1 cup chopped rocket leaves
2 tsp gram flour
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilly powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp black pepper powder
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp chat masala
1 tsp plain yoghurt
1/2  lemon
Oil to fry
Salt to taste

In a bowl,marinate the chicken cubes(with or without bones) with turmeric powder,red chilli powder,yoghurt,ginger-garlic paste and salt.Keep in refrigerator for 4-5 hours.Later,add in cumin powder powder,black pepper powder,chaat masala and chopped rocket leaves.Squeeze out juice from half lemon.Add gram flour for outer coating and mix.
In a deep pan,heat oil in medium.

When the oil is hot,turn the heat to low and add the chicken cubes.Fry them from all sides.When the chicken has turned golden and is cooked well from inside,take them out and drain excess oil in a tissue paper.
Garnish and serve hot with tangy coriander chutney or mint chutney.
