The monsoons are back in India. Its raining cats and dogs outside. We all yearn for some crunchy hot and spicy snacks served along with a cup of hot ginger tea. And when you have  guests, you die for some special munchies that is been loved by all and are easy to make. Here, I bring for you an extremely easy snack that will be a perfect treat for people of all age groups. Who said, rains are loved only by adults? Lets surprise the kids also this rain. This recipe is made with simple ingredients and can be stored raw for days.  You can make it healthy by baking instead of frying, there won’t be much difference in the taste either ways.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Cooking Tine: 8-10 minutes (frying) : 20-25 minutes (baking)

Servings: 8 balls


200 gms Cottage cheese (paneer)
100 gms Processed cheese cubes
1/2 cup boiled potatoes
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup chopped onions
2 green chilies (chopped)
1 tbsp Italian mixed seasoning
Chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Oil for baking or frying

To make a slurry:

1 tbsp cornstarch powder
1/2 cup water
Sprinkle some Italian seasoning
Pinch of salt



In a bowl, grate the cottage cheese and processed cheese cubes. You can use any other cheese instead of processed cheese. Mash the boiled potatoes and mix with the grated double cheese mixture. Add the chopped onions and green chilies. Add salt and Italian mixed seasonings (oregano, thyme, rosemary, dried parsley and dried sage). Add the freshly chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
Make small balls of the cheese mixture.

Make a slurry mixture

In a small bowl, add cornstarch powder to the water and make a semi-liquid paste. Check there are no lumps. Add salt and Italian seasoning and mix.

Take the cheese balls and dip in the slurry mixture and then to the bread crumbs plate.
Tip: If you don’t have bread crumbs at home, don’t worry at all. Toast the breads(4-5 slices) and grind them in the mixer. You get the freshly made bread crumbs that are most crunchier than packed crumbs.
Optional: Keep the cheese balls refrigerated for atleast 20-25 minutes, if you are not in a hurry.

Heat oil in a frying pan. Add the double cheese balls and fry them turning from all the sides till they turn golden.
For baking, pre-heat the oven at 200°C for 10 minutes. Brush the double cheese balls with oil and place them in the baking tray. Bake them for 10 minutes and turn them to bake from the other sides for another 10-15 minutes.

Serve hot with tomato ketchup,  coriander chutney or any of your favorite dip.
